Born 1956 in Hawkes Bay, Richard studied medicine at Otago, and Christchurch Medical Schools, before spending 2 years working in London. Whilst in the UK, he gained a Diploma in Child Health, then returned to Christchurch to study General Practice for one year. He studied for and sat Diploma of Obstetrics in Auckland in 1984, a diploma which includes gynaecology. He has passed the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners exams, and is active in the college reaccreditation system. Richard started in General Practice at Browns Bay in 1985. While his special interest is in skin disease and the surgical removal of skin cancers, he has a wide variety and spread of patients. Peripheral to General Practice, Richard has been chairman of Shorecare, a director of Comprehensive Health, and Continuing Education coordinator for North Harbour GPs. He has also worked for the GP Dept at the medical school. He is married with 3 children and when he gets the chance enjoys gardening, tramping, skiing and native forest restoration. Current consulting hours are Mon 8.30 to 5.30 Tues 8.45 to 5.30 Wed - not consulting Thu 8.45 to 5.15 Fri 8.30 to 12.00 |
