FAQs April 2020 (click on link)
Our staff and you our patients are all adjusting well to the radical new procedures and changes we have in place at BBMC to ensure EVERYONE’s safety at this extraordinary time.
Please DO NOT come to the medical centre unless you have an appointment!
All patient appointments must now be made by phone so the calls can be triaged by our experienced staff.
As a result, we still have blocked the on-line appointment bookings. We do hope soon to open online ONLY telephone and video consultation bookings through the portal
Please note now: ALL COVID-19 Swabbing is being done at selected COVID-19 Testing stations. Click on the link to see where these are: Metro Auckland Referral to CBACs updated 2 April.
All routine procedures, screening and blood tests will be deferred
You will help us greatly if you use our portal – Health 365
for simple repeat prescriptions – please clearly identify your pharmacy as we will fax all prescriptions to your pharmacy for no extra charge, so you don’t need to visit the medical centre
to view results
to ask simple questions – ie online consultations
If you are not on the portal please download a Portal Consent, sign, photo or scan and email to email@example.com – we will activate your portal and you will get an email you need to action.
Please phone us if you would like
A phone consultation
A video consultation
An in-person consultation where necessary
Please ensure we have your correct phone, mobile and email details
Patients who we deem after a phone triage require an in-person consultation, an appointment will be made and again you will be asked a set of questions and have your temperature taken at our upstairs glass sliding doors on arrival for your appointment.
We want to keep all people with a colds, coughs, sore throats or temperatures OUT OF OUR WAITING AREA.
If you or your child have a cold or sore throat with a normal temperature, you probably do not need to be seen by a doctor and can be managed at home. You are welcome to call to have a video consultation with the doctor for these if you feel unsure.
Dr Trudy Warin will not be seeing patients face-to-face who have respiratory symptoms. Our other doctors on duty will see them if required.
Dr Michael Hoogerbrug will not be doing any face-to-face consults but he will be available for phone and video consultations.
We do charge for our face-to-face, telephone and video consultations.
We are strongly encouraging you to pay any invoices on-line rather than at reception.
We recognise that these are difficult times financially for many people. Please let us know if this is an issue for you.
Status is changing daily as you know – we need to work together to make this as easy and as safe for everyone as possible. Please be patient. Thank-you.
Influenza vaccination clinics are well underway here at BBMC. These appointments must be booked by phone. Only over 65’s and high-risk persons are being immunised at present. If you are not in this category, we will be offering immunisation sometime hopefully in May. We await instruction from the MOH.
Our flu clinics will be in the Visiting Consult Suite – turn left at the top of the stairs – this is for well people only. If you have a cold or cough or sore throat, please phone us for alternative arrangements.
Childhood Scheduled Vaccines: It is still very important to continue to have your child’s childhood scheduled vaccines on time. Please call our reception to book your child if they are due.
Hoarding of medications
Please note we will not be issuing repeat scripts to anyone before 2 months after their last 3-month script. We are all in this together and we do not anticipate medication supply issues if everyone works together on this.
PLEASE NOTE OVER THIS TIME OUR PHONES WILL OPERATE FROM 9AM-5PM.
