+ How do I contact the medical centre?

You will help us greatly if you use our portal – Health 365

  • for simple repeat prescriptions – please clearly identify your pharmacy as we will fax the prescriptions to your pharmacy for no extra charge.
  • to view results
  • to ask simple questions – ie online consultations
  • If you are not on the portal please download a consent form, sign, photo or scan and email to nurse@brownsbaymed.co.nz – we will activate your portal as soon as possible and you will get an email you need to action.

+ Can I just come down to the Medical Centre and be seen without an appointment?

It is best you ring or use your patient portal to book an appointment. If you feel you have any COVID-19 symptoms or risk, please you must phone us first to arrange an appointment, as we have set rules around seeing patients with fevers, colds, coughs, sore throats or any respiratory symptoms.

+ Will I be charged?

  • Normal fees will apply for all forms of consultation. Invoices will be generated with payment details attached and sent electronically or by post or given to you at the time of your consultation.
  • We recognise that these are difficult times financially for many people. Please let us know if this is an issue for you.

+ How do I order/collect my prescription?

  • Please contact us (as above)to request your prescriptions.
  • All prescriptions can be faxed directly to your preferred pharmacy
  • You will need to include the name of your pharmacy with your request. Please allow 48 working hours for prescriptions to be processed.
  • You will be charged a normal script fee for this -the additional charge for faxed prescriptions will be waived during COVID-19.

+ I am unwell - can I see my doctor?

If you or your family member are unwell, please phone us and a nurse will then decide if you need a face to face consult or whether your concerns can be dealt with safely via phone /video/portal/email.

+ I am well but due for a routine check-up and prescription - do I need to book an appt?

  • Yes. Please call us or use your portal to book with your doctor.

+ What steps is the Medical Centre taking to reduce risk of spreading infection?

  • Patients who have colds, coughs, sore throats or fevers will not be seated in the waiting area
  • We have instituted increased cleaning protocols
 

+ Can I have a flu vaccination? YES

  • Yes, please phone us to book. Flu bookings are open now.

+ Can I book Well Child immunizations?

  • Yes, please phone us to book -these will proceed as normal.
  • This is for well children only. If you are the caregiver and you have a cold or cough or sore throat, please phone us for alternative arrangements.

+ Is your medical centre accessible?

Our Medical Centre is wheelchair accessible. We have a wheelchair on site for those who need it.
